ESB Telecoms is authorised by the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) as a provider of telecoms services in Ireland. ESB Telecoms holds a Basic Telecommunications License (BTL)from ComReg.
ESB Telecoms develops many new masts on existing ESB group properties. We also provide shared infrastructure solutions to many of Ireland's fixed, mobile and wireless telecommunications  operators. ESB Telecoms works in close compliance with Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government planning guidelines
ESB Telecoms National Trunk Fibre Optic Network was developed under the auspices of the Irish Government's National Development Plan. ESB Telecoms continues to liaise with the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources regarding telecommunications industry issues in Ireland.
ESB Telecoms also works in close cooperation with e-net, the Management Services Entity (MSE) appointed by the Irish Government in 2004 to manage Ireland's regional broadband infrastructure of Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs).
ESB Telecoms is a member of TIF, the Telecoms and Internet Federation, a constituent organisation of the Irish Business and Employers Confederation (IBEC). TIF is the principal trade association for the electronic communications industry in Ireland.
As a subsidiary of a utility company, ESB Telecoms has strong links to the Utilities Telecom Council (UTC), the telecommunications and information technology association for utility, energy and other critical infrastructure companies.
